I’m an advocate for chronic illness and I try my best to raise awareness for Ankylosing Spondylitis and other chronic illnesses as well as mental illnesses. I live outside of Toronto, Ontario and I live with my parents who support me.
I was diagnosed on February 28, 2018 by my rheumatologist with Ankylosing Spondylitis. I am currently on Humira to help with my arthritis pain in my SI joints and lower back. I also deal with severe fatigue on a regular basis.
I am unable to work a proper job, so I do freelance from home. Ankylosing Spondylitis has affected me financially, socially, physically and mentally. It changes just about everything when you are diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. It’s hard to keep a social life with such a busy personal life.
I take a lot of hot baths and use heat to help with my pain. The heat always helps to soothe my symptoms and get me moving. I use microwaveable hot packs and a heating pad when I need to.
I still struggle daily with fatigue. It’s very hard to control and can take over any plans you may have. It can keep you in bed for days when you least expect it.
The universe has your back.
I truly believe that there is an outer force that looks out for me and this quote reassures me of that.
