MEET SARAH
Mother of three and a wife to an amazing husband. I live in WNY. I work for a home health care agency as a home health nurse.
DIAGNOSIS
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto roughly 10 years ago. Currently on no medications as my levels are always normal. I see my PCP for my thyroid currently. About a week ago I was diagnosed with Myositis after months of being fatigued and in pain. My hips and legs hurt. Went back and forth with my PCP whom stated she felt is was the thyroid. Started having difficulty swallowing and chest tightness. Still felt it was the thyroid. Then one day I couldn’t move well. Went to the ER where the MD there stated he knew it was Myositis. Waiting on a Rheumatologist referral to be able to start the testing and muscle biopsy to pin point what type.
LIFE CHANGE
Lowers my energy. As a 32 year old mother who coaches sports teams and is a RN, it has been difficult to accept. Muscle weakness has my legs feeling like hello at times. I’m a pretty active individual.
HEALING
Just started to slowly work in some low impact work outs with stretching to get a routine going. Starting to work on the Autoimmune Fix and help with the AIP diet.
STRUGGLE
Walking, swallowing, and acceptance of my “old age” body.
INSPIRATION
I understand that if I don’t keep pushing forward and I dwell on what is, it will only hinder me more. You’ve just got to keep swimming. 🙂
