MEET LAURA
II am Laura, 21 years old and from Germany. I am a student of business administration and going to graduate in one year. Than I want to study nutrition and health.
DIAGNOSIS
At age 4 I was diagnosed with juveline Dermatomyositis and had to take immunoglobulin, prednisone, azatheoprin and resocin. I was really weak and my legs hurted so much I wasn’t able to walk and I had red skin on my ankles and in my face. But somehow with medication and traditional Chinese medicine I was finished with medication at age 16 and felt quite good? at age 19 I was diagnosed with colitis ulcerosa and sadly my whole colon is inflamed. In the beginning i was in remission with only taking mesalazin.
But 2019 changed my life. I had to take a lot of antibiotics what in my opinion is one reason for my bad health. Anyway I had to take prednisone twice and than as well biologica called humira/ adalimumab. My 3rd flare up ended in two weeks of hospital where the prednisone wasn’t working any longer and the doctors where ready to remove my colon. I had a really bad panic attack and couldn’t breathe because I really wanted to keep my colon. After that shock I started to inform myself soo much about my illness and alternative ways to treat it Or at least help myself to get better. I learned so much in the last 6-7 month about health, nutrition and autoimmune diseases and especially the gut. I would love to share my inspirations or new information I am collecting and maybe motivate someone to change their life as well or to just let them know they are not alone out there struggling ❤️
LIFE CHANGE
My nutrition changed completely. I ate a lot of sugar and bad fats before my 3rd flare up and that changed completely. As well my way of thinking what’s important in life and what’s not like I am sometimes feeling a lot older than I really am but in a positive way. A bad way the illness affected my life is my anxiety. Like with every symptom I can feel I get nervous and anxious.
HEALING
I am eating after my anti-inflammatory diet and I think that works quiet good. I don’t eat gluten, milk or sugar. As well I take supplements like glutamin, curcumin or omega 3.
STRUGGLE
My anxiety and sometimes what is good to eat and what is not good because there are so much diets.
INSPIRATION
Because I just wanted to give up while I was in hospital and my mum said that sentence and it’s so true! You can achieve so much and everyone who is struggling and still making their way out there is stronger than they think they are❤️
