Ashley’s Autoimmune Story

MEET ASHLEY

I have a little family now, my partner adam and 19 months old daughter Pixie. We live in stafford, I work in health psychology services while my partner works in sale.

 DIAGNOSIS

I was diagnosed with both Ankylosing Spondylitis and Crohn’s disease within a week of each other, 4 years ago. I take regular pain killers and on my third anti tnf theory. I seem to get ill alot, pick up every bug that is going around, especially now with having a toddler. All while being in pain, good days and bad days. I seem to get all side effects you can think of. I do struggle with mental health a little, who wouldn’t. But my daughter is my reason for fighting and she keeps me going. My diseases are very invisible and I seem to be okay because I like to keep busy. I’m out and about for my daughter and keeping busy is our lifestyle.

 LIFE CHANGE

It effects my life daily. Due to the pain everyday, means I have to be careful in everything I do. I have to be careful about getting ill and look after myself. If I don’t sleep well then I know I’m going to have a bad day.

 HEALING

I have had acupuncture, massage, almost everything like that. It’s to expensive to keep up with.

 INSPIRATION

As simple as that, be yourself no matter what.
